VP Debate Party Pictures!

These were taken during our VP Debate Party, during which we had to drink copious amounts of booze to keep us from killing ourselves. Palin has the most annoying voice on the planet.

[info]sapphiredawn/Krystal is pouting because [info]angelaria/Angela wants to eat her face.

Krystal and [info]tantricaquarian/Justin, aaww. :)

We are so cute!

MOAR! MOAR! )

I also have some Old Schoolish pictures from the old house, but I'll post them later to save from picture overdose. ;)

You are on a plane that's about to crash. You have time to make ONE phone call. Who do you call and what do you say?

I'd call my father. I didn't even have to think about that one! I'd probably sob and tell him to tell everyone I love them and to take care of my cats.

I know these pictures (and the last, for that matter) are huge, but whatevs. I had a long day. :P These were taken two weekends ago. Tim stopped off the I-10 somewhere between Parker and Phoenix. The sky was SO BLUE.

Tim looking up at the cactus.

See? Cactus!

more cacti! )

And for good measure, this is Tim looking a little despondently at the slip 'n slide he and my sister were trying to put together when it was kinda windy out (adding water helped!).

This is part of the front yard of the house I grew up in, btw.

Cute pictures from this weekend :)

He ruined it by closing his eyes. :P

Angela loves her fancy shmancy water lol.

Justin & Angela are super cute.

Jon giving giving Angela a hug.

The boys are being super nerdy and playing Dungeons & Dragons haha.

But cute, yes?

I know I look pissed off, but I wasn't. I was just telling some sort of story very enthusiastically. Yay booze!

I totally forgot to post these here. For shame!

Angie, Krystel, Mindy, Justin, Jon, & me. Too lazy to link LJs heh.

Justin always has the best booze. And that's Angie's Grandmother's cardigan and I freakin' LOVE IT. Cutest cardigan ever.

We are all adorable. Also, I am obviously the shortest one lol.

RIP Scott Tyler Dove

God. It didn't really hit me until a few moments ago. Dove is gone. Yesterday, Justin called me to tell me that Dove had passed away Saturday night, due to a drug overdose. I can't say that I was surprised, but I wish so much that it weren't true. He lived his life impossibly large. I just wish he would have been able to reign it in, even a little. But I guess then he wouldn't have been Dove.

I went over to [info]tantricaquarian's (Justin), Angie's and Jon's gorgeous new home, but it wasn't as I had imagined it. Dove wasn't there to great me with a large hug, wrapping his impossibly long arms around me. Never again will he call me just to say something random and totally hilarious. Never again will I see his random MySpace bulletins on politics and the world. No longer will I laugh and shake my head at your weird obsession with a 907 foot monster.

I only hung out with him a handful of times, but he left a HUGE impression. He was completely, 100% unique. Larger than life. Far too intelligent for his own good. One of the most animated people I've ever met. You felt him before he even walked into a room.

I remember when he came to Larry's with me. He came, he drank, he played pool, and left almost as quickly as he'd come. I remember him giving me a huge hug and wet smooch on the cheek as he said goodbye.

We'll miss you, Scott Dove.

Ugh. One of his close friends or family made an official bulletin using his account on MySpace, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw his default picture. :-/

Classic Dove hug :)

I'm going to miss his laugh.

Tim & his niece, Abby. She is so freakin' adorable.

We forgot to take a picture of us (again) so I snapped one really quick before I left today. :P

There are more pictures of the fair and stuff, but I am too tired to care right now. I am SO going to bed. I should've been in bed a long time ago, aah!

Oh my gosh! Cute kid day!

About 10 minutes ago, as I was walking down the sidewalk, just as I was about to come up next to the school park a few blocks away from my apartment, there came four kids no older than 5 or 6, the tiniest having to be about 4, running across the street, full speed ahead in a perfect line. They ran until they hit the gate surrounding the school and park and every single one of them crawled under the fence, which is just high enough for them to fit. They crawled under the fence, and continued to run in a straight line as fast as their little legs could carry them, all the way to the playground equipment in the middle of the park. I started to laugh with glee. It was just so cute and so funny.

And then a few minutes later, as I was about to turn into my apartment complex, I looked across the street and there was a boy, about 8 years old, roller blading on the sidewalk, in a little superman costume! CUTE OVERLOAD!

I don't want kids, and don't get that "pull" that other women talk about when I see cute kids, but man ... kids are great and hysterical and seeing them run across the street, obviously SUPER excited about playing in the park, and seeing that kid on roller blades and wearing a freakin' superman costume, totally made my day.

You know what would be awesome? If I could walk down the street alone without feeling threatened. If I could walk down the street without having to deal with catcalls and leers. If I could walk around at night without feeling afraid for my own safety just because I am a woman. And when I say "without", I mean it -- not once, not even a little.

I usually take catcalls and whatnot in stride. I don't offend easily, for one, and usually they are easy to ignore. However, this guy at the bus stop downtown tonight pissed me off so badly I could not ignore him. I told him to "STOP STARING" and flipped him off a few times. I very nearly dumped a bottle of water on his head, but refrained. I had to tell the bus driver to not let him on the bus (though thankfully he didn't even try).

He was making lewd faces and noises (gross kissy-face noises and hand gestures) the entire time I was at the stop with him, and he threateningly pointed his finger at me through the window when I got on the bus.

IT MAKES ME SO FUCKING ANGRY. Is there anywhere in the world where I can go in public, as a woman, without feeling even a little threatened in some way? I don't think there is.

And the worst part is that there is nothing I can do about it.

I just want to give a big FUCK YOU to any man who has ever made lewd comments or gestures to a woman for any reason whatsoever. FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU.

1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your current favorite song, or your favorite kind of sandwich, maybe your favorite cat. Any remark, meaningless or not.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

[info]solar_diablo asked me the following:

1. You're sent to solitary confinement for two months, and are allowed to take three books into your cell. What are they and why?

Probably three books I haven't read in a long, long time that I've been meaning to re-read again (which I hardly do). The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, for sure, because it's one of my favorites and a good, thick book. The World According to Garp by John Irving because it's another favorite that's also pretty thick. And also, Stephen King's The Stand, because it was the only King book I couldn't get through, and I haven't picked it up since I was 14 or 15 (and it's God Damned thick for modern fiction). Sometimes time makes reading certain books easier.

2. Based on physical attractiveness alone, who is (for you) the most desirable male? Female? (choose someone famous - naming a personal friend doesn't do the rest us much good) :P

Oooh. This is hard, because I'm attracted to a lot of different types of people depending on my mood. Honestly, it's a tie between Bruce Willis and John Stewart, based on physical attractiveness. 'Cuz Bruce has the big, "manly" thing going on and the bald head, which makes me swooooooon. And John Stewart is the goofy, handsome but not in a pretty, obvious way, perfectly gray-haired, older man.

And Kelly Clarkson, hands down, for the female side. She's adorable, has a killer ass, a very pretty face, and a great smile. :)

3. Bill Gates has given you 24 hours unrestricted use of his AMEX card, provided you a) use it only for yourself, and b) do not buy anything you plan to turn around and sell for profit. Describe what you do with the day.

Fry's Electronics, HERE I COME! OMG! Do you realize the computer I would have?! And the flat-screen LCD monitors/TVs? And I would pre-pay as much as I could for internet and cable TV and cell phone and rent (if I could) hahahaha! I plan ahead, man! And then I'd go buy some huge bookshelves, head to Barns and Noble and Bookmans, and go nuuuuuuuuuuts. Oh, and before all this, I'd go rent the biggest U-Haul I could find.

And then I'd like, have no room to put anything in my crappy little apartment!

4. What's the best/worst thing about having a twin?

Now that we're older (and get along), it's really nice to have a friend and a sister my age I can talk to. We're so different when it comes to just about everything major in our lives, but we still do have a lot in common, especially how we feel and react to things. It's also awesome having her around to talk about the family.

The worst? I dunno. Nothing, now, but back when we were younger, everyone expected us to be super close, and we weren't. I also hated not having my own identity. Our nicknames were, "The Twins" or "The Twin" during K thru 8th grade. We nearly never got called by our own names. Thankfully my parents didn't treat us like that. Aside from my dad's tenancy to get us mixed up when we called him or when he just wasn't paying attention (lol), we DEFINITELY had our own identities in their eyes, so that was cool.

5. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be.

I hate this question, lol. There are things I would change physically -- I'd like a smaller stomach and smaller upper arms -- but aren't so important that they would be the ONE thing. Sooo, probably my lack of patience patience and focus? I really lack both sometimes. It causes me to talk over people, break off perfectly decent relationships, and get myself into trouble at work. I have a hard time focusing on one thing at one time, especially if I'm not into whatever I have to concentrate on.

[info]may_lyn did something like this and the post was tons of fun. So I stoled it! :D

1. Comment with your favorite "Happy" icon.

2. Then, make a comment with your favorite "People are stupid!" icon.

3. Then, optionally, make a comment with your your overall favorite icon.

Essentially, I want you to flood my inbox with icons! :D

Drunk? Perhaps just a leeeetle.

Ok, a lot.

Larry's (dive bar woo) tonight. Good friends, strong drinks. I've not left my apartment in far too long. 'Twas nice.

Drunk? Yesh. I hope my typing skillz aren't too horrific. I apologize for any grammar horrors. I blame it on the many (4 or 5 or 6?) Jack & Cokes.

In the words of Tim/[info]shagg: "Woo?"

I am proud of my drunk self that I remembered the Icon That Matches!

I am with the boys up north. So far up North (New River) that my ears feel funny. I couldn't hear a thing when we arrived. Dirt roads whilst drunk are always interesting. O_o
